The recent Windows 11 24H2 update, released yesterday, is causing major issues on certain devices, resulting in the “blue screen of death” (BSOD) due to incompatible drivers for Intel Smart Sound Technology on 11th-generation Intel processors.

Microsoft revealed that they have halted the distribution of updates for devices using SST audio drivers with versions 10.29.0.5152 or 10.30.0.5152 due to a driver issue named ‘IntcAudioBus.sys’ found in “System Devices” in Windows Device Manager.
Microsoft stated that the issue impacts solely devices with 11th generation Intel processors and specific versions of the Intel SST driver. To safeguard additional users, the company implemented a compatibility restriction, blocking the Windows 11 24H2 update from being accessible to these systems.
Users experiencing issues are advised against manually forcing the update through tools like Media Creation Tool or Windows 11 Installation Assistant to avoid system instability and increased BSOD errors.

Microsoft recommends updating Intel SST drivers to version 10.30.00.5714 or higher through Windows Update. If the driver is not available, users should contact the device manufacturer for assistance.
In certain situations, Microsoft mentioned that it may require as long as 48 hours after driver updates for the Windows 11 24H2 update to become available again, provided there are no other compatibility issues.
