This operating system is commonly found in Nokia, Positive, and Multilaser devices that provide simple and cost-effective options for users.

KaiOS is a system created from Firefox OS, tailored for simple mobile phones without touch screens. The company indicated that their decision to discontinue WhatsApp support may stem from the need to ensure security and functionality on older devices and software.

Users who have not linked their devices to WhatsApp or have disconnected before June 25, 2023, will no longer have access to the app. Those with an active WhatsApp on their devices can continue using it until early 2025.

WhatsApp recently upgraded its compatibility requirements to Android OS 5.0 or higher and iOS 12 or higher, resulting in the discontinuation of support for around 17 Android smartphones and iPhones.

Models that have been impacted

The WhatsApp support page currently states that devices running KaiOS 2.5.0 and higher, such as JioPhone and JioPhone 2, are compatible. However, this support will soon be discontinued, impacting all devices on this operating system version.

There is currently no news about modifications to WhatsApp for Android and iOS systems. The decision to discontinue support appears to target basic phones using KaiOS.

NASA and SpaceX are getting ready to save astronauts stuck in space.

Astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have a scheduled date to return to Earth after a period of uncertainty. NASA, collaborating with SpaceX, will launch the Crew-9 mission this week to bring the duo back from their mission at the International Space Station. The mission is set to launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on Thursday (26).

What occurred to the astronauts?

Butch and Suni reached the ISS in June 2024 on the Boeing Starliner capsule for an experimental mission meant to last eight days. However, issues with the thrusters extended their stay on the station beyond the initial plan.

Starliner’s malfunction raised significant worries about the capsule’s safety in returning astronauts to Earth. Following extensive testing, NASA deemed it too risky to use Starliner for Wilmore and Williams. Consequently, SpaceX’s Crew-9 mission was selected as a safer alternative to bring the astronauts back.

SpaceX’s Crew-9 mission will make history as a “rescue mission” and the first crewed launch from Space Launch Complex-40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, with two crew members onboard the Crew Dragon ship.

Commander Nick Hague, the first active U.S. Space Force officer to go to space since the unit was established in 2019, is part of Crew-9, which also includes Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov of Roscosmos.

Why was Starliner not utilized?

The issues with the Starliner capsule started right after it reached the ISS in June. Multiple propulsors in the reaction control system, crucial for important re-entry maneuvers, had defects. Despite thorough tests on the ground and in space, NASA and Boeing teams couldn’t pinpoint the exact reason for the malfunction.

Federal Revenue Auditors are on strike, which could cause delays in imported purchases.

The auditors of the Federal Revenue began a strike on Tuesday (29) that is expected to extend until Wednesday (30). The strike is intended to exert pressure on the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) for salary negotiations, potentially causing delays in the delivery of international purchases.

Federal Revenue auditors are currently on strike.

The tax auditors started mobilizing in July because the MGI refused to follow the agreement about setting up the trading table for the category, claiming that the bonus regulation already covered the salary schedule.

Several initiatives, including public events and discussions with officials nationwide, have been undertaken to garner support for auditor advocacy since that time.

The group is calling for the creation of a Special Table to discuss salary adjustments due to inflation. Auditors are expected to refrain from attending any meetings or training sessions with the Federal Revenue as part of their protest.
