Itaú Unibanco and Google introduced a new payment method called Pix by Approach, which allows customers to make payments by simply approaching the Itaú machines with their mobile phones.
How does Pix operate through Approach?
To utilize Pix by Approach, customers must first sign up for an account on Google Wallet and authorize the transaction through their bank. When making a payment, users can simply hold their phone near the machine for a quick and seamless transaction, eliminating the need to open the bank app. This service is accessible to Itaú clients and aims to simplify everyday payments.
Payment via proximity is widely used in Brazil due to its speed and security. The adoption of this method for in-person transactions has reached 61.1%, indicating a preference for convenience. Itaú aims to streamline this process further with Pix for Proximity, guaranteeing a fast and safe payment experience for its customers.
Google has introduced a new security feature called Night Mode, which blocks transfers to unknown accounts between 8 pm and 6 am to protect users during more vulnerable times. Additionally, payment can be made without entering a password by simply using the mobile device, enhancing the convenience of the experience.
Google has introduced additional updates for Pix users, including the option to make payments using the “Pay with GPay” button in online shopping applications. Additionally, Preview Pix will enable customers to select Pix as a payment method while browsing on the Chrome browser, enhancing the convenience of using Pix for consumers.
