The Internet Civil Framework currently mandates that users must provide explicit consent for the collection, utilization, storage, and handling of their personal data. The new proposal emphasizes that this consent should be restricted to the standard usage timeframe of the app, ceasing data collection once the calls end or when the device is inactive.

Punishment is a consequence for wrongdoing.

Failure to follow this rule will result in the person in charge of the application facing penalties outlined in the Consumer Protection Code, which may include fines and the suspension of product or service provision. Additionally, the project modifies the Penal Code to penalize the unauthorized collection, use, or storage of data with imprisonment ranging from six months to two years and a fine, aligning this offense with the crime of stalking.

The project must undergo final review by the Communications Committees and the Constitution and Justice and Citizenship Committees. It also requires approval from the Federal Senate to become law.
