Apple plans to introduce smart glasses and AirPods equipped with cameras in order to recoup investments in Vision Pro.

Apple invested heavily in the Vision Pro, resulting in a high market value for the device. Despite surpassing initial sales projections, Apple is confronted with challenges related to recouping the substantial costs of device production. In an effort to lower these expenses, Apple is concentrating on expanding its product range utilizing cutting-edge Vision Pro technology.

AirPods equipped with cameras and smart glasses are expected to be released soon.

Bloomberg reports that Apple’s Vision product team is working on four new devices, including smart glasses and AirPods with built-in cameras, slated for release in 2027. The glasses won’t feature augmented reality but will include camera, speaker, and microphone functions, similar to Ray-Ban’s smart glasses in collaboration with Meta.

Apple’s approach aims to maximize the potential of the technology utilized in Vision Pro, enabling users to scan and interpret their surroundings. By extending this innovation to other products, Apple seeks to leverage existing investments made for the headset, minimizing the necessity for significant new research and development expenditure.

Apple is developing a budget-friendly version of its Vision headset to be released in early 2025. It will have a lower price of around $2,000, less advanced materials and processor compared to the Vision Pro, and will not include EyeSight functionality. The second generation of Vision Pro, planned for 2026, will feature a more powerful processor, following the line’s evolution path.

Apple aims to make the technologies from Vision Pro more widely accessible at a lower cost, showing their commitment to recouping the significant investment and staying ahead in the smart device market.
