The Supreme Court (STF) received reports from Anatel and the Federal Police (PF) this week regarding individuals who accessed Twitter/X during the platform’s block in Brazil. Despite Minister Alexandre de Moraes’s suspension order, the social network was still being accessed. Authorities are now working to identify those who circumvented the restriction, possibly through VPN services.

The Federal Police are charting the entry points.

The Federal Police are monitoring platform access with STF approval, using Anatel’s data to track users who circumvented the block, potentially facing fines or legal consequences.

The Twitter/X blockade is one of several actions taken against Elon Musk’s company, which shut down its office in Brazil in August, claiming persecution by Minister Alexandre de Moraes. Musk has appointed a legal representative in Brazil as mandated by the Supreme Court, but the validation process is ongoing.

Twitter/X was blocked in the country at the end of August for failing to comply with STF requirements, including the removal of extremist profiles and the absence of a legal representative in Brazil. The platform, owned by Elon Musk, was fined R $ 5 million for not following the court order. Investigations are also underway regarding the IP change that briefly restored access to the network in the country.

X has submitted a request to resume operations in Brazil after resolving legal issues with the Supreme Court, including paying fines, freezing accounts, and appointing a legal representative in the country. Approval from Minister Alexandre de Moraes is now awaited for X to resume operations.
