YouTube has introduced a new conversational AI feature that can respond to queries related to the video being viewed. This feature is exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers using an Android device.
An artificial intelligence tool is introduced on YouTube.
YouTube had announced its plan to introduce a conversational AI tool by the end of the previous year, but there have been no updates on its progress. The idea was to develop a separate tool enabling users to ask questions about the video while watching it.
YouTube has officially confirmed that users in the United States will soon have access to this conversational AI tool on their devices. The feature will initially be available to YouTube Premium members only, with no details provided on potential expansion to other users in the US or globally. Information about the availability of this functionality in Brazil is still pending.
The official Twitter account for YouTube (X) also verified the new feature.
Our conversational AI tool will now be available to all YouTube Premium members in the US who use Android devices. You can utilize it to delve deeper into the content you enjoy by inquiring about what you are currently watching or requesting similar video suggestions.
The new AI functionality is subtly integrated into the YouTube app, with the comment icon on Android showing an additional page indicator. Swiping left on the comment card reveals a new “Ask” option.
You can touch the card to access a page that looks like a typical chatbot interface. When you hit “Resume video,” the instruction is quickly added to the chatbot, creating a summary of the YouTube AI model, which is believed to be connected to Gemini.
